Ceramic Whale Bowl (Homage to Ruffles)

This ceramic bowl is 8″ in diameter and almost 4″ tall. Two whale shapes are formed in low relief inside the bowl and a third whale is cut out, leaving an opening on the side of the bowl. In this photo, you can see the shadow of the bowl and light shining through the cut out area.

This bowl is an homage to Ruffles, a resident Orca Whale in J Pod, who lived in the Puget Sound. He went missing in December 2010. Ruffles was famed for his very large dorsal fin, which made him easily recognizable.

I plan to exhibit my bowls and new oil paintings in my OPEN STUDIO, October 20th & 21, 2012. If you are in the Puget Sound region, mark your calendars and let me know if you would like an invitation to the event.
